Dear Team,
First of all KCWA would like to say THANK YOU to Shayne who helped organise putting together 2 teams for the tournament and taking them to Eastham.
Kumar annan and I would now like to express our congratulations and the hard team effort that was put in by our boys, (Shayne, Sunil, Vivek, Nevin, Vishnu, Sreeju, Saju, Govind, Simon & Rees). They all played a very high level game of power league at Eastham, we got to the semi final which was a very good achievement for us as we have never played this type of 5 A Side game before. We have showed outstanding performance against the other groups of teams that are regular league players.
The tournament consisted of 5 teams 2 from Croydon 3 from Eastham.
Eastham won First and Second place.
We now need to start developing better skills to participate at this high level, as we are lacking in stamina and adrenaline when it comes to fast response when Passing the ball to each other at games. We also need to find out if we have a goal keeper amongst us? as we realised today in our games when we had no experienced goal keeper for the penalty shootout.
We will be ready for them next time for them…

Dear Team,
You all made me proud today, the game was played at a very high level and I can say that everyone contributed their part in this match. I have received very good feedback from all the parents and also from the opposition team coach. The referee asked “why these kids are not put forward for league games”. Please be advised that, the 5 A side Tournament will take place at Lanfranc school on the 19th of August, depending on the weather. We may get to use the outside 5 a-side pitch, which is located next to the indoor badminton pitch, If it rains then we will have to use the indoor pitch from 3:30pm onwards as this pitch is been used by the badminton group every Sunday. But if it does not rain then we will be able to use the outside pitch which is available from 1pm.
So keep an eye on the weather! if it rains then come at 3.30pm and no rain 1pm to use outside pitch.
Hopefully we should have 5 teams, each team will play against each other, teams will be in groups of 5 players with 1/2 subs each team will need to pay £15, your teams will be A, B, C, D & E.

Please note that the ONAM SADHYA is on 1st of September from 12pm.
Please also note that football training will continue at 2pm after the onam Sadhya at lanfranc

Dear Team,
Several players were missing today without informing me of there whereabouts, as we are getting closer to the tournament date I would appreciate that every player makes every effort to advise me of their availability for each week, otherwise you may be excluded from the football tournament in August. This is because we need every player available each week to practice with each other in their teams to assess balance of the team layout.
Today it was very difficult due to players missing and not keeping me informed.
Please make sure you wear the correct colours for your teams each week running up to the football Tournaments. Thank you.

I would like to inform you all that (football is played all year round) despite different types of weather we have here, I will try to notify you all if football Training is cancelled due to any issues with the school pitch. Please have a read below of the issues regarding playing football in wet weather. Please ensure that all children do attend football training as they will need to get use to this type of football.
One thing which undoubtedly affects football games in the UK is the wet weather. Rain before a match can make the surface very soft, and make it difficult to keep your footing. Players generally change the studs on their boots when the conditions under-foot are wet. Longer studs mean they can get more grip on the surface.
Many pitches will have underground drainage systems to take excess water out of the ground, however at smaller venues, this luxury isn’t available, and the pitch can have water sitting on the surface, which will affect the run of the ball played along the ground, and therefore increase the skill and control needed by the players.
Visibility
Heavy rain will also have an impact on visibility, making it harder for team-mates to see each other and their opponents, and also make it more difficult to see the ball. All of these factors will mean players will have to think about their moves a lot quicker. Fog and mist will also affect visibility and for the referee this can be crucial because it is important he sees what is going on in the game.
Cold weather
Cold weather is quite frequent during a British winter, so the players should be quite used to it. Some players wear additional clothing to keep their body heat warm and some wear gloves to keep the chill off their hands. If wind is included in the equation, the situation can be a lot more unpleasant, and it makes it increasingly important for the players to warm-up correctly so they don’t pull muscles, which are more likely in colder conditions. The coldness can cause the loss of body heat and if the players aren’t prepared for this, it can be quite dangerous for their health
Wind
The wind can also play a big part on the game as it can affect the direction the ball goes. Kicking the ball off the ground in the wind involves a lot more skill as the players have to take into consideration which way the wind is blowing, because it will carry the ball.
Wind can affect the direction of the ball
Tactically, it might be decided to keep the ball low to the ground in very windy conditions to increase the chances of holding onto possession of it. For goalkeepers it can be very difficult to save balls which swerve in the wind, and when they are trying to take a goal kick, the wind can carry the ball, possibly reducing the advantage such a situation.
Dry and hot
When the weather is dry, the ball can again be quite difficult to control. The ball can bounce along the surface, so the skill of the players is again called for. If the surface is particularly hard, many players will wear moulded studs on their boots, because otherwise blisters can be a problem. Some clubs spray their pitches just before a game when conditions are particularly dry, to make it a bit quicker.
Hot conditions and even humidity will mean increased perspiration for the players, and therefore an increased risk of dehydration. It is therefore important for them to replenish liquids at every opportunity. This heat can also increase the chance of the players suffering with cramp, which can end the game for an individual in severe cases.
